Audley’s Wood, Basingstoke
Audley’s Wood had hired marquees regularly for some years but had a particular problem in that they needed to site their wedding venue away from the main hotel building in order to ensure that the party atmosphere in the marquee did not disturb the other hotel guests.
This meant that they too needed a kitchen area where food could be prepared but they did not have enough space available to site this within the main marquee. Tectonics UK undertook a site visit and recommended a separate service tent which was placed behind the main marquee on a slightly higher eave height than standard so that a prefabricated kitchen, cold room and dishwash unit could be sited within this area. A guttering system joined this to the main marquee. A separate toilet area was also sited behind the marquee and attached to the main drainage.

The hotel installed a new pathway leading through the gardens from the hotel to the marquee and Tectonics UK suggested a 6m Oriental Canopy as an entrance porch leading into the main marquee. Since the installation the hotel has developed this area with a paved patio area for al fresco cocktails!
The marquee site was some distance from the car park up a grassy bank, so for the installation Tectonics recommended hiring temporary trackway to minimise damage to the area.
Tectonics UK co-ordinated the delivery of all these items to site and managed the installation in conjunction with the marquee hire company and the head office of the hotel group.
The marquee has been in use ever since and the marquee hire company still maintain it under contract, attending site for inspection visits and organising cleaning of the linings and PVC covers on a regular basis.
