Worcester Racecourse, Worcester
Early in February 2007 we received a call from Jenny Cheshire the Commercial Manager at the racecourse enquiring about the purchase of a marquee for use as a Corporate Entertainment venue. The racecourse had hired marquees in the past but they encountered issues with quality and availability. A meeting was arranged with the Managing Director of Arena Leisure, the parent company, it was agreed that we would quote for a 9 x 24m Multispan marquee.
We agreed to provide three internal partition walls. One would be fixed to partition off a 9m x 3m Catering area and the other two walls would have the flexibility to move and provide various sizes for a corporate entertainment area.
The quotation was accepted and an installation date early in April was agreed. To ensure all went well, we arranged for the purchase delivery and installation of the carpets, lighting and ancillary electrics. Installation was completed within three days and the client expressed their delight on how efficiently the work was completed and how good the finished marquee looked.
All went well until the un-seasonal wet summer caused the course and surrounding area to flood. To prevent damage to the structure we sent a member of staff to monitor the marquee. Despite the structure being flooded up to 2m deep, the marquee survived undamaged and we dispatched members of staff to the course to work over a weekend to rebuild the marquee ready for the anticipated meeting the following week.
On several occasions the racecourse and their parent company sent letters of thanks to express their appreciation of the service we provided them. They also mentioned that despite the flooding problems the marquee had proved a great success with not only the Corporate Entertainment on race days but for Weddings and Parties on non race days.
